Hear me out, I've been in the activist sphere for years. I work as a community builder and my academic background in women's studies and urban planning inform a lot of my thinking. This took a long time to wrap my head around so here's my attempt and sharing my understanding of how I see cultural shifting in the coming decade.
Human Design explains that the major energetic transition peaking around February 2027—the shift from the era of the Cross of Planning to the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix—involves a significant change in the underlying "circuitry" that influences global consciousness. This is steering us from a predominantly collective and tribal focus towards an era that champions and, in many ways, necessitates empowered individuality.
For generations, the rallying cry has often been "we're all in this together." Our societal structures, communities, and even our sense of security have been deeply rooted in collective identity and effort. But if you've sensed a growing emphasis on individual paths, unique expression, and even a certain pressure for self-reliance, you're not imagining things. A fundamental shift is underway, reshaping the very balance between "we" and "I
The Era of "We": Community & Collective Bargains (The Cross of Planning)
The outgoing Cross of Planning era (approx. the last 400 years) strongly emphasized:
Tribal & Collective Circuitry: These energetic pathways in Human Design are about support, shared resources, societal agreements ("bargains"), logic, and abstract societal patterns. Think of phrases like "it takes a village," "your duty to society," or "the company will take care of you."
Interdependence within Structures: Our identities and survival were often tied to our roles within families, communities, corporations, and nations. The focus was on fulfilling these roles and upholding collective agreements for mutual support and security.
Homogenization for Cohesion: To maintain these large collective structures, a certain degree of conformity or homogenization was often encouraged.
This "we-focused" energy built our modern world and its support systems. However, as this energetic cycle wanes, the very nature of community and our reliance on these established collective bonds is transforming.
The Rise of "I": Individual Sovereignty & Authentic Connection (The Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix)
The incoming Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix era is bringing a much stronger emphasis on:
Individual Circuitry: This circuitry is about empowerment, individuation, mutation, and unique self-expression. It’s less about fitting in and more about standing out in one’s authentic truth.
Individual Survival & Self-Reliance: Ra Uru Hu, the founder of Human Design, often spoke starkly about this shift, indicating that relying on old collective support systems (governments, large corporations) in the same way would become increasingly untenable. "Individual survival" becomes key, not necessarily in a bleak sense, but in terms of each person needing to be equipped to navigate life through their own inner resources and authority.
Authenticity Over Obligation: The energetic support is moving away from connections based on duty, societal expectation, or old "bargains," and towards connections formed from genuine resonance, shared awareness, and authentic individual alignment.
What This Looks Like in Our World (May 2025):
We're already seeing signs of this transition:
Questioning of Old Alliances: People are re-evaluating their roles in traditional community structures, workplaces, and even family dynamics that feel constricting or inauthentic.
The Pull Towards Unique Paths: There's a growing desire for work, relationships, and lifestyles that honor individual truth, even if it means stepping away from conventional paths.
New Forms of Community Emerging: While old communal bonds may weaken, new ones are forming, often online or in niche groups, based on shared authentic interests, spiritual resonance, and mutual respect for individuality (think of 15 minute intentional built cities). These are less about obligation and more about chosen, resonant connection.
The Challenge of Alienation: As the old "we" structures dissolve before the new "I-based" connections fully solidify, some may experience a sense of alienation or groundlessness. This is a natural part of the transition.
Navigating the Shift: From "We" AND "I"
This isn't about abandoning connection altogether. It's about the quality and basis of connection evolving:
Strengthen Your "I": The foundation for healthy connection in the new era is a strong sense of your own authentic self. Living by your Human Design Strategy and Authority is the most direct way to cultivate this inner clarity and self-reliance.
Seek Resonant Connections: Gravitate towards people and groups where you feel seen, valued for your uniqueness, and where connection is based on authentic sharing rather than unspoken obligations or conformity.
Redefine "Support": Support may look less like institutional safety nets and more like networks of empowered individuals offering mutual respect and encouragement for each other's unique paths.
Embrace Your Unique Contribution: As an empowered individual living your design, your authentic presence and actions are your contribution to the world, which can then naturally draw your true "tribe" to you.
The shift from a dominant "we" to a more prominent "I" can feel unsettling, but it's also an incredible opportunity. It's an invitation to shed outdated societal conditioning, discover the power and beauty of your unique individuality, and form connections that are truly nourishing and aligned with your authentic spirit. The future of community will be built by sovereign individuals choosing to connect in freedom and truth.

Yesssssss. The collective I. Individuals embracing individuals for their authenticity rather than their group value. Fkn LOVE this. Give me more of this!
Yes. It’s not about abandoning the WE, it’s about truly integrating the I with and for the WE by being uncompromising about who you are, letting the real ones find you and the others…do their own thing.
